Our bespoke hand made wild snake shed earrings, have been hand made using pieces from a wild Carpet Python shed found on a farm near where we live.  The simplicity of these earrings as well as using a clear, undyed resin, showcases the amazing geometry and patterns in Nature.  Setting these pieces in this clear resin transforms the dull slough [ shed] back into the vibrant colours it would have been when on the snake. We have also added tiny flakes of gold leaf to give a sense of luxury and style. These earrings are so light weight [ only weighing approximately 5 grams ] you won’t even know you have them on!! They deliberately sport pieces of wild Nature, to draw attention to the beauty of our planet and the need for us to respect, nurture and care for it. Why Not Be The Change and Support Our Planet? We use bio resin, and also new stainless steel findings, in order to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible. The resin we use also has a bio base of  100% and as well as a low VOC [ odourless and contains no solvents] and is PBA free. For more information, click here. We hand collect, sort and process all the snake sheds we use.  Sometimes the shed may be soiled from mud or dirt and is often wrinkled and stuck together.  Gently prying the layers of shed apart can be a challenge, as it is both fragile and easy to tear.  It is then carefully and lovingly cleaned and arranged in order to create each unique one off piece. Did You Know…? It can often be a challenge identifying a discarded wild snake shed. Where we live, we often find sheds from both Carpet Pythons as well as Spotted Pythons. The Carpet Python being the most numerous, however. It is still a challenge though, as we often find both! A piece of shed with a few scales on may not be enough to identify the snake it was from. Carpet Pythons and Spotted Python can look very similar.  Added to this, both can live in similar or overlapping areas. Though the adult Spotted Python is much smaller than the adult Carpet Python, identifying them from an incomplete shed is definitely a challenge. Often the head is required to differentiate, as Spotted Pythons have 3 scales across the top of the head in a straight line between the eyes. Another challenge is that a shed may fade with time, so identifying a shed by colour or pattern may not be a simple task, especially as we often don’t know how old the shed is.
